Referrals & Placement Enquiries
Muse Pathways welcomes referrals from schools, local authorities and professionals seeking a supportive, personalised and vocational approach to alternative provision.
Our aim is to provide a clear, collaborative referral process that ensures every student is placed within a programme that best supports their individual needs, strengths and future aspirations.
Who We Support
Muse Pathways supports young people aged 12–16 who may benefit from a smaller, more personalised learning environment and a practical, hands-on approach to education.
Our provision may be particularly suitable for students who:
• Are struggling to engage with mainstream education
• Have low attendance or are at risk of persistent absence
• Are at risk of exclusion or disengagement
• Experience anxiety, low confidence or emotional regulation difficulties
• Would benefit from increased support and positive relationships
• Have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Would benefit from practical and vocational learning opportunities
• Have an interest in beauty, wellbeing, creativity or hands-on learning
• Require support developing confidence, independence and future aspirations
Placement Options
Muse Pathways offers flexible placements designed around individual student needs and referral objectives.
Available placement options include:
• Core Days Placement (Monday–Wednesday)
• Future Foundations Placement (Thursday–Friday)
• Full-Time Placement (Monday–Friday)
• Tailored Placements agreed in partnership with the referring school
• Rapid Response Placements for urgent or mid-term referrals
How to Refer a Student
-
Contact Muse Pathways to discuss the student's needs and suitability.
-
Provide relevant information regarding the student's educational, wellbeing and support requirements.
-
We will review the referral and discuss the most appropriate placement options available.
-
Where appropriate, an introductory meeting, consultation or visit may be arranged.
-
Placement objectives, attendance arrangements and a proposed start date will be agreed.
What Happens Next?
Once a referral is accepted:
• A personalised induction programme will be planned
• Placement objectives and support arrangements will be agreed
• An Individual Learning Plan (ILP) will be developed
• Communication will be maintained with the referring school and family where appropriate
• Progress, attendance and engagement will be monitored and reviewed regularly
Rapid Response Placements
Rapid Response Placements are available for students requiring immediate support, urgent intervention or mid-term placement.
These placements are designed to minimise disruption to learning whilst providing students with access to a safe, structured and nurturing environment. Additional induction, transition support and personalised planning help students settle quickly and begin engaging positively with learning.
Capacity
To maintain high levels of support and personalised learning, Muse Pathways operates with a maximum capacity of 10 students at any one time.
In addition, we offer up to 5 Rapid Response Placements per academic year for students requiring urgent intervention, immediate support or a swift transition into alternative provision.
As places are limited, early discussions and referrals are encouraged.
Ready to Discuss a Placement?
We welcome informal conversations with schools, local authorities and professionals who would like to learn more about Muse Pathways or discuss the suitability of a potential referral.
Please contact us to arrange an initial discussion.
