Student Referrals to Muse Pathways

We welcome referrals from schools, local authorities, and professionals seeking a supportive and alternative approach to education for young people.

Our aim is to provide a smooth, clear referral process and ensure each student is placed in a setting that meets their individual needs.

Who Is Suitable for Muse Pathways

Muse Pathways is suitable for students who:

  • Are in Year 8–11 (ages 12–16)

  • May be struggling in a mainstream school environment

  • Have low attendance or are at risk of exclusion

  • Experience anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, or disengagement

  • Have additional needs, including ADHD, autism, or related needs

  • Would benefit from a smaller, more supportive environment

  • Have an interest in beauty, practical learning, or hands-on activities

Placement Options

We offer flexible placements depending on the needs of the student and school:

  • Full-time placement (Monday–Friday)

  • Part-time Core Programme (Monday–Wednesday)

  • Part-time Enrichment Programme (Thursday–Friday)

  • Rapid Response placements for urgent or mid-term referrals

How to Refer a Student

To refer a student to Muse Pathways, please:

  1. Complete an enquiry via our Contact page and select “Refer a Student”

  2. Provide key information about the student and their needs

  3. We will review the referral and make contact to discuss suitability

  4. Where appropriate, we will arrange an initial meeting or consultation

  5. A start date and placement plan will then be agreed

What Happens Next

Once a referral is accepted:

  • A personalised induction will be planned

  • An Individual Learning Plan (ILP) will be created

  • Clear communication will be maintained with the school and family

  • Progress and engagement will be monitored and shared regularly

Rapid Response Referrals

We also offer Rapid Response placements for students requiring urgent support.

These placements are designed to provide a quick, supportive transition into provision, with additional induction and settling-in support to ensure students feel safe and able to engage from the outset.

Capacity

Muse Pathways operates with small group sizes (maximum 10 students) to ensure a high level of support and individual attention.

As a result, spaces are limited and early referral is recommended.
