Placements & Provision

Muse Pathways offers a structured yet flexible programme designed to help students rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and develop the skills needed for future success.
 

Built around The Muse Blueprint and the ten foundations of The Muse House, our curriculum combines academic learning, vocational education, wellbeing and personal development within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Students can access placements on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on individual needs and referral objectives, with opportunities to engage in both Core Days and Future Foundations.

 
Core Days (Monday–Wednesday)

Core Days form the foundation of the Muse learning experience. Through a combination of academic learning, vocational education and personal development, students develop confidence, practical skills and positive learning habits within a structured and supportive environment.

Learning is built around the foundations of English, Maths, Nail Studies, Skin Studies, Beauty Studies and Wellbeing & Personal Development, helping students strengthen essential skills whilst exploring future opportunities and aspirations.

 
Future Foundations (Thursday–Friday)

Future Foundations extends learning beyond the classroom through workshops, projects, industry experiences and real-world learning opportunities.

Built around the foundations of Life Skills, Employability & Careers, Enterprise & Business Skills and Community & Citizenship, Future Foundations helps students develop confidence, independence, aspiration and practical life skills whilst broadening their experiences and preparing for future success.

Activities may include industry professionals, enterprise projects, wellbeing sessions, community engagement activities, educational visits, creative workshops and salon-based experiences.
 
Placement Options
We recognise that every student is unique, which is why placement arrangements can be tailored to meet individual needs, referral objectives and desired outcomes.
 

Students may access:

Core Days Placement – Monday to Wednesday

Future Foundations Placement – Thursday to Friday (alongside mainstream school where appropriate)

Full-Time Placement – Monday to Friday (Core Days and Future Foundations)

Tailored Placements – Individual attendance patterns agreed in partnership with the referring school
 

Placement arrangements can be reviewed and adjusted over time to reflect changes in a student's needs, progress and future plans.

 

Rapid Response Placements
 

Muse Pathways offers Rapid Response Placements for students who require immediate support, an urgent alternative provision placement or who are joining part-way through a term.
 

We understand that circumstances can change quickly. Students may be experiencing increased disengagement, school refusal, placement breakdown, risk of exclusion or may require support whilst longer-term arrangements are being explored. Our Rapid Response Placements are designed to minimise disruption to learning whilst providing immediate access to a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
 

Who It Is For

Rapid Response Placements may be suitable for students who:

• Are joining alternative provision mid-term

• Are at risk of exclusion

• Are experiencing school refusal or emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA)

• Have become significantly disengaged from education

• Require an urgent alternative provision placement

• Need additional support during a period of transition
 

How It Works
 

Personalised Induction

Each student begins with a tailored induction programme designed to help them settle into the Muse environment. This includes introductions to staff, routines, expectations and an initial review of strengths, interests and support needs.

Individual Support Plan

A personalised support plan is developed to identify priorities, learning needs and any missed learning opportunities. This ensures students can access the curriculum confidently and begin making positive progress as quickly as possible.

Enhanced Student Support

During the early stages of placement, students may receive additional support through regular check-ins, personalised guidance, wellbeing support and targeted interventions designed to build confidence and engagement.
 

Support may include:

• A personalised induction into the setting

• Additional check-ins and settling-in support

• A structured catch-up plan where appropriate

• Small group or targeted support sessions

• Emotional regulation and wellbeing support

• Close communication with the referring school and family
 

Ongoing Monitoring

Student progress is monitored regularly through observations, reviews, student feedback and communication with the referring school. Support strategies can be adapted to ensure individual needs continue to be met throughout the placement.

Our Aim

Rapid Response Placements may be used as a short-term intervention, transition placement or the beginning of a longer-term placement, depending on individual circumstances and referral objectives.

Our aim is to provide stability, consistency and immediate support whilst helping students rebuild confidence, establish positive routines and re-engage with education as quickly and positively as possible.
